BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT UNIT
The Business Development and Employment Unit of Nyamasheke District plays a central role in promoting local economic growth, entrepreneurship, and job creation. Its key responsibilities include:
1. Planning, Coordination, and Reporting
- Coordinate planning, budgeting, resource mobilization, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting related to business development and employment programs.
2. Policy Implementation and Strategy Development
- Develop and oversee the implementation of strategies that localize national policies and District Council decisions on business development and job creation.
3. Financial Inclusion and Awareness
- Raise awareness among the local population on the importance of saving.
- Facilitate linkages between citizens, entrepreneurs, and financial institutions to enhance access to business opportunities.
4. Business Linkages and Market Access
- Facilitate partnerships and supply linkages between local SMEs/cooperatives and large firms through mutually beneficial arrangements.
5. Identification of Economic Opportunities
- Coordinate the identification, updating, and promotion of local business and economic development opportunities within the District.
6. Employment Mainstreaming
- Ensure integration of employment promotion strategies into the District Development Plan and related action plans.
7. Access to Finance
- Ensure the effective functioning of the Access to Finance Forum.
- Identify and address challenges limiting access to credit and loan repayment.
8. Skills Development and Employment Support
- Collaborate with companies to identify skills gaps and connect them with training institutions.
- Mobilize companies and SMEs to host interns for skills development and knowledge transfer.
9. Institutional Coordination and Advisory Role
- Serve as a member of the District Technical Coordination Committee.
- Provide advisory support on business development and employment matters.
10. Labour Market Information and Job Tracking
- Facilitate the collection and reporting of job creation data into the Labour Market Information System (LMIS).
11. Employment Promotion Initiatives
- Coordinate and promote employment creation initiatives at the District level.
