Nyamasheke District
Nyamasheke District is one of the seven districts that make up the Western Province. The District headquarters are located in Kagano Sector, Ninzi Cell, Gikuyu Village. The District is administratively composed of 15 sectors. Nyamasheke District shares borders with Rusizi District to the south, Karongi District to the north, Nyamagabe District to the east, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west.
The District is widely recognized as an important hub for tourism and investment due to its rich natural attractions, particularly the renowned Nyungwe National Park and the scenic Lake Kivu. These natural resources provide significant opportunities for eco-tourism, hospitality, fisheries, and other investment ventures. In addition, Nyamasheke District has fertile land suitable for the cultivation of high-quality coffee and tea, making agriculture another key pillar of its economy. The District hosts three well-known tea factories that contribute significantly to local employment, exports, and the development of the tea value chain.
