GOOD GOVERNANCE UNIT – SERVICES
The Good Governance Unit of Nyamasheke District promotes transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in local governance. The Unit provides the following key services:
1. Implementation and Monitoring of Governance Programs
- Implement good governance and related programs at Sector level.
- Monitor service delivery and performance of governance programs and ensure continuous improvement.
- Consolidate reports and data from Cells for effective decision-making.
2. Promotion of Good Governance Practices
- Organize and coordinate programs aimed at strengthening good governance at the community level.
- Conduct awareness campaigns to educate citizens on the importance of good governance and their role in it.
3. Citizen Engagement and Grievance Management
- Receive, channel, and follow up on citizens’ complaints and grievances.
- Ensure timely and effective feedback mechanisms between the population and local authorities.
4. Strengthening Community Justice Systems
- Monitor the functioning of Abunzi (community mediators).
- Build their capacity to enhance effectiveness in conflict resolution and justice delivery.
5. Coordination of Community Activities (Umuganda)
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor Umuganda activities at Sector level.
- Consolidate reports from Cells and ensure proper implementation of community work programs.
6. Data Analysis and Decision Support
- Analyze reports from Cell Councils to identify key issues affecting the population.
Provide evidence-based inputs for consideration by the Sector Council and District leadership.
